With a sneak peek at the patch notes, Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead is revealing more about the highly anticipated 01.001.007 update for the game.
When the explosive shooter was released earlier this year, it broke records and became the best-selling PlayStation Studios title ever. However, Arrowhead has had a difficult time lately trying to appease the fans of Helldivers 2, and in recent months in particular, this has led to a “mainly negative” current user review rating on Steam. Helldivers 2’s total Steam user review rating is still “mainly positive,” with a current rating of “mixed.”
The perception that Arrowhead has been overly harsh in nerfing Helldivers 2’s many weapons and tactics as it attempts to balance the game accounts for the majority of the criticism. Some gamers have said that Arrowhead has taken all the pleasure out of Helldivers 2, a game in which the object is to destroy robots and alien bugs with extravagant weapons and bombs, because to the game’s frequent nerfs.
Launching on September 17, Arrowhead believes that this patch will significantly alter the co-op action game for PC and PlayStation 5 and win over its angry community. However, we already know Arrowhead’s strategy to balance Flamethrowers, one of the more divisive weapons in the game, before then.
With the introduction of the patch, flamethrower damage is boosted by a massive 33%, Arrowhead is confirmed, and flame weapon armor penetration is enhanced. Flame-based weapons can now harm larger foes like Chargers, Bile Titans, Impalers, and Hulks, according to Arrowhead. “Flamer mechanics will be reset to the condition before the Escalation of Freedom update,” Arrowhead said.
The last modification is crucial because it increases armor penetration, making flame weaponry a competitive option against some of Helldiver 2’s most formidable foes, like the previously mentioned Hulks.
The numerous weapons and stratagems in Helldivers 2 are slated to receive some improvements, this one being the Flamethrower. It will not be long before fans learn what other enhancements are in store for them since Arrowhead has promised to provide more information about the patch every day leading up to its release. For the time being, Arrowhead has stated the following:
According to Arrowhead, the next update for Helldivers 2 will include the following:
- We are redesigning opponent armor and health values, anti-tank weapons, and armor penetration. We have completed an initial balancing run on more than 30 weapons and stratagems as a crucial component of the redesign.
- We are redesigning several opponents to make them feel more rewarding to defeat with the right equipment while maintaining their intimidating sense. Combat will be better balanced as a result of enemy bots, such as Hulks, having less armor and opponents like the Devastator and Gunship firing fewer rockets. Particularly formidable bug adversaries such as the Charger, Impaler, and Bile Titan will also have their armor values lowered.
- Weapons with more effectiveness and more loadout variety include the autocannon, heavy machine gun, and anti-material rifle. We are also striving to make the flamethrower weapons even better.
- We are using this chance to take into account the fantasies of new players and set goals for these weapons and strategies based on the comments we have received and the patterns we see in gameplay.
