Dino Crisis is a 25-year-old franchise that began with the PlayStation version of the first game on July 1, 1999.

Three games have been released for Capcom’s beloved dinosaur survival horror franchise; the original is still the best-selling title with 2.4 million copies sold. A year later in 2000, Dino Crisis 2 went on to sell 1.2 million copies. Since the 2003 release of Dino Crisis 3, an Xbox exclusive at first, fans have not seen a new game. Dino Crisis 1 is the best-selling game in the series, having sold 2.4 million copies; Dino Crisis 2, the sequel, has sold 1.2 million copies. A total of 4.4 million units have been sold by the series.

Hardcore fans occasionally say that Dino Crisis should return, but Capcom does not seem interested in bringing the series back. Many believed that Capcom’s 2022 reveal of Exoprimal, an action game with a dinosaur theme that is mostly geared toward multiplayer, was the last straw for Dino Crisis.

However, Capcom tweeted a picture of a bleeding dinosaur foot today, July 1, to commemorate Dino Crisis’ birthday, which some optimistic fans interpreted as a good sign.

However, Capcom has a lot of work ahead of it at the moment. In addition to several Resident Evil remakes and a brand-new Resident Evil game, Monster Hunter Wilds is scheduled for release in 2025. Then there is Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics and the anticipated Dead Rising remake. Does Capcom still have room in its lineup for Dino Crisis? Time will tell.
