The eagerly awaited Neo-Volkite handgun was included in the latest patch (4.5) for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2.
The Neo-Volkite pistol is a potent thermal ray weapon that reduces adversaries to ashes with its deadly beams. It is restricted to Operations, Space Marine 2’s three-player cooperative PvE game, and is accessible for the Assault, Vanguard, and Bulwark classes.
There, Space Marine 2 players are forming a three-pronged Neo-Volkite pistol death stream, which brings back thoughts of the Ghostbusters’ famous use of Proton Packs to imprison ghosts.
Among Space Marine 2’s weapons, the Neo-Volkite pistol is special because it deals foes cumulative thermal damage by launching a heat beam at them. Concentrating on a single adversary increases the damage until it explodes locally, dealing massive damage to your target and all other foes in the area.
We now have Ghostbusters 40k edition; we only need a mod that swaps out the Neo-Volkite gun model for a real Proton Pack.
According to publisher Focus Entertainment, the Neo-Volkite pistol will only be available in Operations mode for the time being “while we continue to experiment with balancing in PvP.” The upcoming major update for Space Marine 2 will be included in Eternal War mode along with Dark Angel’s cosmetics, a new Operations map, and a new opponent. So, perhaps, there will be some Ghostbusters action in PvP soon as well.
When Space Marine 2 became a huge hit, Saber Chief Creative Officer Tim Willits told Gamexta in September that it had “changed everything” for the firm. According to astute enthusiasts, the Space Marine chapter is almost certain to receive a cosmetic pack following the Dark Angels.
Although the Neo-Volkite pistol is enjoyable, players have discovered it is not very effective, particularly on more tough levels where ammunition is limited. That is the case in isolation, at least. What occurs if the three players focus three heat rays upon the bothersome Terminids using the Neo-Volkite pistol? That is what you get: gratifying alien death in the vein of Ghostbusters.
