Battlefield 6 has had a phenomenal start on Steam, with more than 740,000 players at the moment.
747,440 people were playing Battlefield 6 concurrently on Steam at the time this story was published. The new first-person shooter from EA is now the second most played game on Valve’s platform, after Counter-Strike 2. Larian’s Baldur’s Gate 3 is aiming to overtake Battlefield 6, which is currently the fourteenth most played game on Steam.
For comparison, there were 521,079 concurrent players at the height of the Battlefield 6 open beta. These figures have never been approached by any other Battlefield game on Steam. The $70 Battlefield 6’s accomplishment is all the more remarkable given that it already has more players than EA’s previous Steam record-holder, the free-to-play Apex Legends.
Additionally, Battlefield 6 is on track to surpass its FPS competition by double the record set by the Call of Duty app, which includes all Call of Duty titles, with a peak concurrent player count of 491,670 on Steam.
When you include gamers on PlayStation and Xbox, the actual concurrent player count will be significantly greater; however, neither Microsoft nor Sony discloses these figures to the public. (Of course, this also applies to Call of Duty, which has always performed better on consoles than PCs.) Battlefield 6 players may unavoidably encounter server delays, though currently, logging in doesn’t take too long. Although it’s still early, Battlefield 6 appears to be a huge success for EA.
In addition to having a large player base, Battlefield 6 already has Call of Duty levels, and one enthusiastic fan recreated the Modern Warfare classic Shipment in Portal.
