Capcom has revealed that Street Fighter 6 has now sold more than four million copies. The fighting game went on sale for PlayStation4, Xbox One, and PC in June 2023; this marks the 15-month mark since the game’s launch.

“We appreciate you coming and helping us accomplish this goal!” Capcom stated. “We hope you are enthusiastic about SF6’s future as we want to host more events and offer more content!”

Seven months after its debut, Street Fighter 6 sold three million copies back in January. That indicates that it took a little more than six months to add a million more sales. Street Fighter 6 is “basically proceeding in line with our expectations,” according to Capcom.

Capcom had stated that it wanted Street Fighter 6 to surpass Street Fighter 5, to sell more than 10 million copies during the game’s lifetime.

Capcom stated, “We intend to outperform the title’s predecessor, Street Fighter 5, and are aiming for more than 10 million units over the life of the title. However, we do not communicate precise figures for internal expenditures.” Therefore, Street Fighter 6 has a long way to go before surpassing Street Fighter 5’s cumulative sales figure.

The groundbreaking Street Fighter 2 sold 6.30 million copies, Street Fighter 5 sold 7.60 million copies, and the 1993 SNES smash Street Fighter 2 Turbo sold 4.1 million copies, to put Street Fighter 6’s sales in perspective.

Comparing Mortal Kombat 1, a fighting game rival that has sold four million copies since debuting on sale in September 2023, to other noteworthy comparisons is interesting. Usually selling more copies than fighting game franchises like Street Fighter and Tekken, Mortal Kombat is the best-selling fighting game series. Roughly eleven months after its release, Mortal Kombat 1 sold four million copies. In a month, Tekken 8 sold two million copies.

In the meantime, Street Fighter 6 is currently in its Second Phase. Terry and Mai, DLC characters from Fatal Fury and The King of Fighters, will be available soon, and Elena will not be ready until the winter of 2025. Capcom has not yet revealed the next move.
