The player of Baldur’s Gate 3 discovers a hilariously underwhelming, scrapped evil ending in Patch 7.

As players of Baldur’s Gate 3 race to unlock every secret in the game’s enormous Patch 7, which was just published for PC, one player has discovered a deleted evil ending that is, to put it mildly, a touch underwhelming.

By simply obstructing the “impossible” tag, YouTuber SlimXG (h/t GamesRadar) was able to access the game’s ending that was still there in the files. By doing this, he stumbled into a brand-new, completely animated cinematic that depicts the player character, after an evil run, leaving all of this tadpole silliness behind.

Although Lae’zel is the main character in SlimXG’s footage, there is more to the finish than just her. It depicts Lae’zel after she seizes command of the Netherbrain and has Baldur’s Gate completely at her disposal. The “impossible” tag is removed, giving her two new options as she mulls over what to do next: “rid yourself of the tadpole at last and walk away from all of this – alone” and “remove the tadpole at last and depart with your comrades.”

Having chosen one of the options, Lae’zel takes the tadpole off her head in front of the somewhat amusingly bewildered bystanders before leaving. In essence, enjoy yourself by yourself or with companions.

With each option clocking in at less than a minute, it is a startlingly abrupt way to conclude the game. It is also simple to understand why the ending was trimmed because it is not even that evil. Even said, it is amusing to watch the confused expressions on the friends’ faces when the player goes to all that effort to defeat the Netherbrain and then simply… leaves.

Players have been discovering a lot of new things since Patch 7 was released, including the much-awaited official mod support. This is just one of many discoveries. Karlach’s bad ending made her trend on X/Twitter yesterday, thus the new endings are a highlight.

The good news is that more Baldur’s Gate 3 DLC might be released in the future. Though the studio’s head of publishing declined to disclose specifics of what is coming ahead, they tweeted that “it is not the final update,” contradicting the earlier expectation that Patch 7 would be Larian’s final major patch. With the PC release, Larian stated that console gamers will have the opportunity to explore Patch 7 at some point in October.
