Fans of the strategy series will be aware of the significant role the in-game narrator plays in Civilization. To begin with, you hear their voice frequently as they share insights about humanity in general throughout the game. Additionally, over the years, some well-known actors have taken on the role in the Civilization games. Voices for Civilizations 4–6 were provided by the late and renowned Star Trek legend Leonard Nimoy, William Morgan Sheppard, and Sean Bean, the real Ned Stark.
By casting Gwendoline Christie as the in-game narrator of Civilization 7, the game developer Firaxis has now preserved the Game of Thrones line of succession. Christie’s involvement in the game was revealed by Firaxis with the new teaser below, which provides an early look at what to anticipate when Civilization 7 launches early next year. This announcement follows the gameplay preview at Opening Night Live.
Similar to Sean Bean, Christie is a former cast member of Game of Thrones, having gained widespread recognition for her role as Brienne of Tarth in the fantasy-drama series on HBO. Here, Christie appears a touch more laid back than the agitated Brienne, brilliantly laying the groundwork for Civilization 7.
Before the game’s Opening Night Live presentation, IGN got hands-on with Civilization 7 and was impressed. On February 11, 2025, Civilization 7 will be released for the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X and S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store, and Mac and Linux through Steam.
