Larian, the developer of Baldur’s Gate 3, has said that it is now totally focused on its upcoming game and has promised a “media blackout” for the foreseeable future.
Larian has stated that its “whole attention” is on the next major product, even though the much-anticipated Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 8 for the Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game is scheduled to be released this year.
Swen Vincke, the head of Larian, took to Twitter this week to offer a brief reflection on the studio’s progress thus far, which has seen Baldur’s Gate 3 achieve remarkable critical and financial success. Vincke continued, “But the narrative am not over yet.”
made me feel sentimental; thus far, the voyage has been truly amazing. However, the tale is not yet over. Pay attention. If it is okay with you, I will attempt to avoid the dark night of the soul moment. The URL https://t.co/eLSTv3CXb4

Larian moved to a “media blackout” after stating in a follow-up statement to VideoGamer that “Swen and the team[‘s]… whole concentration is concentrated on building their next product.”
We are more aware of what Larian’s upcoming game will not be than what it will be. We are aware that it is neither a D&D game nor a follow-up to Baldur’s Gate 3. Instead, it is a completely new game, something Larian was eager to pursue after failing to generate internal excitement for a sequel to Baldur’s Gate.
Regarding the studio’s upcoming project, Vincke commented in general terms in November 2023. Vincke said, “I wish I could tell you about our next huge game, but this is greatly encouraging us to guarantee it exceeds many boundaries,” in reaction to Baldur’s Gate 3’s numerous nominations for The Game Awards. “I am really thrilled about it.”
Before the blockbuster release of Baldur’s Gate 3, in July 2023, Vincke told Gamexta that a follow-up to Larian’s Divinity: Original Sin series was also in the works, but fans should not hang their breath.
“We created our own universe, therefore we will undoubtedly return there eventually,” Vincke stated. “We shall return there eventually. In order to rejuvenate our creativity, we will first complete [Baldur’s Gate 3] before taking a break. You can see that 400 developers are giving this their all. In this game, you are getting the best of them and their craft. It is quite a thing, I can tell you that.
Perhaps a brand-new game based in an entirely different universe, if Divinity is not the next game? Fantasy role-playing games have been developed by Larian for a while. Is it able to expand into science fiction? Or a contemporary scene? Or perhaps try an other genre? It seems like we might not know for years or possibly decades.
