The White Wolf will appear in the upcoming mainstream Witcher game, codenamed Polaris, but not as the primary character, according to voice actor Doug Cockle, who plays Geralt of Rivia.

A new protagonist was anticipated for Polaris, as developer CD Projekt Red has long stated that Geralt’s story is coming to an end. However, this is the first indication that he will even appear in the upcoming game, which sparks some wild speculations among fans.

In an interview with Fall Damage, Cockle confirmed Geralt’s involvement in Polaris but withheld any specifics. He added, “I can not say anything about [Polaris].” “We just do not know how much or how much Geralt will be included in the game; we do know that it will not be the main focus.

This time, it is not about him. We are not sure about the subject. I can not wait to learn more. I am curious to know. I have not yet seen a script. Well, even if I could, I could not tell you. I might be lying through my teeth, but this is the thing. However, I am not. Or do I? “

For Polaris, only one more teaser image has been released, but it was plenty to fuel fan ideas that suggested Ciri would be the protagonist of the upcoming mainstream Witcher game. Because the plot of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is carried out in comic books that are regarded as canonical to CD Projekt Red’s world, it is thought to have a “true” conclusion in which she becomes a witch.

While this is a brand-new Witcher school that has not been mentioned in the books, games, comics, or anywhere else, the teaser image also featured a lynx medallion. Ciri wore a School of the Cat pendant in the books, and the school’s philosophy fits with her agile fighting style.

Given that she was raised by members of the School of the Wolf, such as Geralt and Vesemir, the lynx medallion might be seen as a combination of this and her wilder side. Even though he was not aware that he would be appearing in it, Cockle himself called this “the coolest theory” he had ever heard when speaking with Gamexta in December 2023.

Given that Geralt appears as a supporting character in Polaris and that he gives Ciri her blade in The Witcher 3’s final quest, it would make sense for her to have a mentor figure in some parts of the next game. Marktheshark124 posted on Reddit, saying, “Maybe Geralt is the next Vesemir.”

The fact that Geralt appears in the game confirms, if nothing else, that there is a prequel to the Witcher story that takes place decades, if not centuries, earlier, when the Witcher schools were at their height of fame, so dispelling fan hypotheses. During the events of the first tale, both they and the number of witchers are declining.

Although Polaris is the primary project being worked on at CD Projekt Red, it will probably be some time before any details are revealed. Other than saying that it will prioritize freedom and “intense gameplay,” the developer has not disclosed anything more.
