Online, an early test video appears to be of Valve’s recently revealed multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) shooter, Deadlock.

The video was posted by @gabefollower, an X/Twitter user, content maker, and leaker. Yoshi, a Valve developer, is credited with creating the clip. With its smooth concrete floors, triangular pine trees, and texture-free buildings, it is a stripped-down version of the Deadlock we know today. This early version also makes use of assets from a few other Valve games, as Gabe Follower notes. The minion role, for instance, is filled by Half-Life Antlions. Other game assets include those from Left 4 Dead and Dota.

Even though it is not very good, it is nevertheless an intriguing look at a game that not much is known about. Although the actual time of the video’s recording is unknown, you may view what was posted below.

Just last week, Valve officially unveiled Deadlock as its first new IP in years. It is a 6v6 third-person shooter that is still in the very early stages of development, and the events leading up to its release were anything from typical. Over the past two weeks, the Half-Life and Portal developer has given a limited number of players access to the game, requesting those who do so to hold off on releasing any thoughts or information from their playthrough.

Playtesters have nevertheless been able to surreptitiously post gaming videos to social media, which has caused uncertainty among individuals who were not on the shortlist. Meanwhile, an increasing number of players were secretly joining Deadlock through August, according to the PC statistics website SteamDB. Players began to join early this month, reaching a peak of 44,512 users days before Valve unveiled the game.

Although the platforms for Deadlock have not yet been revealed, playtesters can now play it on PCs. A release date has not yet been disclosed. You may read about a few additional early leaks that hinted at some of what would later be released as Deadlock while Valve keeps its head down to continue development.
