Exclusive to the PS5 for a year, the remake of Silent Hill 2

Sony has announced that the PlayStation 5 will be the only system to carry the Silent Hill 2 remaster for a full year.

Bloober’s eagerly anticipated remake will not be available on “other formats” until October 8, 2025, at the latest, according to a new teaser that was posted on the PlayStation YouTube page and noticed by Eurogamer. October 8, 2024, is when Silent Hill 2 launches on the PC and PS5.

Although the term “other formats” is ambiguous, it undoubtedly refers to Xbox consoles (the Xbox Series X and S) as well as maybe Nintendo‘s upcoming Switch 2 system. The next PS5 Pro, which goes on sale on November 7, will, of course, support the Silent Hill 2 remake.

Along with a year-long platform exclusivity, Sony and Konami’s collaboration on Silent Hill 2 has brought complete support for the DualSense’s capabilities, which include haptic feedback, adjustable triggers, and a dynamic lightbar feature that shows the health state of the game’s protagonist, James.

A recreation of the 2001 psychological horror classic is called Silent Hill 2. After receiving an enigmatic letter from James Sunderland’s late wife, Mary, players rejoin Sunderland and hunt for clues in the horrifying town that bears his name—which is, of course, rife with scary monsters.

The first ninety minutes of the Silent Hill 2 remake, which started the game, were made available online earlier this month. Bloober Team’s estimates state that players may finish Silent Hill 2 in “approximately 16 to 18 hours,” which means that the first 90 minutes will cover just under 10% of the game.

This extra length over the original will accommodate a plethora of gameplay adjustments, but ostensibly nothing in the narrative aspect, since Bloober has been adamant about maintaining all of the original game’s plot points.
