Yet Another Delay for Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2

Due to ongoing issues, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 has been postponed once more.

The Seattle-based vampire game was originally scheduled for release in the fall of 2024, but it will now debut on PC, Xbox Series X and S, and PlayStation 5 in the first half of 2025.

The delay was attributed to Paradox’s “commitment to delivering high-quality games to our players,” according to a statement attributed to Mattias Lilja, deputy CEO for publisher Paradox Interactive, and Alex Skidmore, creative director at developer The Chinese Room, which took over development duties after original studio Hardsuit Labs was abandoned.

Paradox has announced the cancellation of several games in production and the closure of studios as part of a reassessment after acknowledging that it made some mistakes regarding the expansion of its business and the games it distributes.
“Paradox and The Chinese Room cooperatively agreed to prioritize refinement, even though the game is in a decent enough place that we could have maintained our scheduled release window,” the statement says.

The additional time for development will be utilized, according to the statement, “to establish a quality assurance buffer, giving more time between testing and launch, guaranteeing we release the game when it is ready.” “With more time, we can make changes to some areas (Fabien, for example) and take into account further user feedback.

The game’s plot will also be expanded throughout this period, giving Bloodlines 2 more than twice as many endings as its predecessor.

Lastly, “It has been a long ride, but we are almost done with production and will announce the release date as soon as we are satisfied with the quality of the game.”

Naturally, Bloodlines 2 is the follow-up to the beloved Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines, which was released in 2004 by developer Troika Games. The follow-up has been in various stages of development for about ten years.
