Ubisoft Releases an Assassin’s Creed Unity Ad to Celebrate Notre Dame’s Reopening

With an ad for Assassin’s Creed Unity, the Paris-set installment in its venerable stealth action game franchise, Ubisoft has commemorated the reopening of the Notre Dame cathedral in Paris.

According to PC Gamer, Ubisoft celebrated the “historic reopening” by posting the Assassin’s Creed Unity Tribute: Explore Notre Dame with Arno video on YouTube. On April 15, 2019, a fire destroyed the 12th-century Notre Dame, which was closed until December 7, 2024.

In the video description, Ubisoft stated, “Join Arno, our legendary Assassin, as we explore our painstakingly recreated Paris during the French Revolution, in celebration of this historic reopening.” “Enjoy an exclusive journey around the world of Assassin’s Creed Unity, from the bustling streets to the towering heights of the cathedral spire.”

Before introducing the idea behind Assassin’s Creed, the film glides across scenes of the actual Notre Dame. This allows “players to travel through time and enjoy fictitious adventures set among historical sites and gorgeous places.”

After showcasing some of 2014’s Assassin’s Creed Unity, it focuses on Notre Dame in particular, using side-by-side gameplay screenshots and real-world video clips. Naturally, Arno, the protagonist, ascends to the summit for a panoramic view of Paris.

Assassin’s Creed, which was formerly an annual franchise, has been quieter lately. Since full entry Valhalla appeared in 2020, only the lesser Assassin’s Creed Mirage has been released. Due to further significant problems at the corporation, Ubisoft postponed the November release date of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which is set in feudal Japan, until 2025.

Additionally, Ubisoft is abandoning its paid content strategy, which involved providing a Season Pass with two expansion packs within a year of its debut. Additionally, the phony “early access” period that charged gamers more to play on the actual release date rather than three days later has been abandoned.

Although Assassin’s Creed Shadows has seen several other issues, this choice was made in response to the poor performance of Star Wars Outlaws, another Ubisoft game.
