The Dark Horizon is the third and last DLC pack for Remnant 2, according to creator Gunfire Games.
A release window of September 2024 was also announced, one year after the successful debut of the co-op shooter sequel known as “Dark Souls with firearms.”
Gunfire hinted that when players returned to the necropolis world of N’Erud, they would find that an odd phenomenon had taken hold.
Given that Gunfire had promised to release all three of the DLCs during Remnant 2‘s first year of release, the September 2024 release schedule for The Dark Horizon represents a kind of delay.
“To give us more time to give you the greatest experience you deserve, we have made the painful choice to push back the release of our third DLC,” Gunfire said.
“We want The Dark Horizon to be the largest DLC pack available for Remnant 2.” We have not only filled this DLC with even more of the amazing Remnant content you have come to expect, but we are also working hard on a brand-new game mode and new advancement system that will be made available to everyone for free. We will be revealing these details soon.
“Although we regret having to postpone this DLC release, which you have been eager to start playing, we consider ourselves extremely fortunate to have your unwavering devotion and support for the Remnant series. It has been an incredible year, and we hope that you have enjoyed building this world for Remnant 2 and its DLCs as much as we have enjoyed developing it for you. Nevertheless, we are not quite done yet, so stay tuned for future updates regarding The Dark Horizon DLC!
Once again, I want to thank you for being a vital member of the Remnant family and for your unwavering support. We can not wait to go on more experiences with you in the future and are thrilled about what lies ahead.
In July 2023, Remnant 2 was released to great acclaim from both reviewers and players. In its first week of release, it sold over a million copies on the PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S. It then defeated Diablo 4 to become the best-selling game in the United States for July. In September 2023, the number of units sold exceeded two million.
Remnant 2 is described in Gamexta’s 9/10 review as “a magnificent sequel that fully nails that premise in practically every manner, not just reimagining the souls-like genre as a co-op looter-shooter.”
As the DLC for Remnant 2 draws to a close, speculation about Gunfire’s upcoming title and the potential release of Remnant 3 naturally arises.
