According to the official Xbox Game Pass account on X, Mafia: Definitive Edition will be available in the Game Pass library on August 13. Mafia: Definitive Edition is a complete remake of the original Mafia game, complete with updated vehicles, new music, a longer storyline, and more gameplay components.

Microsoft announced on X/Twitter that the 2020 remaster will be accessible on Xbox Cloud Gaming, PC Game Pass, and the console version of Game Pass. YouTuber eXtas1s broke the story a few days ago, having already revealed that Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, and Valorant will be making their way onto Microisoft’s game subscription service.

In 2020, Mafia: Definitive Edition was first made available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. It is a recreation of the 2002 game Mafia, created by Hangar 13. The protagonist of the story is Tommy Angelo, a mobster for a crime family in 1930s Illinois who was formerly a cab driver. The definitive version was developed from the ground up and has a new game engine, new cutscenes, and adjustments to the gameplay that are comparable to Mafia 3.

Hangar 13 has made progress on the Mafia series in addition to completely reconstructing the original Mafia game. This includes creating Mafia 3 in 2016 and remastering Mafia 2, both of which were published in 2020. Although the studio announced in 2022 that it was developing a new Mafia game, not much has been known about the project since then.

My colleague Luke Reilly reviewed Mafia: Definitive Edition and said, “Oozing with 1930s atmosphere, Mafia: Definitive Edition is a brilliant revival of the best story in the franchise.”

In addition, the Mafia franchise’s next installment is being developed by Hangar 13. In 2022, Roman Hladík, general manager of Hangar 13, verified that the company had commenced work on a brand-new Mafia project. Hladik had stated at the time, “We are incredibly excited to keep working on this beloved property and to entertain our gamers with fresh stories, even though it is a few years away and we can not divulge anything more right now.”
