Next week marks the release of Season 4 and Deathstroke, last year’s DLC character for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. However, there are still unanswered issues regarding Warner Bros. and developer Rocksteady’s plans for the game’s second year. As the game approaches a year from its debut, the already revealed roadmap for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League concludes with the release of Deathstroke and Season 4 on December 10.

Suicide Squad: Kill Justice League received harsh criticism from reviewers and saw a very low Steam player count. Despite being situated in the Arkhamverse, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League was not another Batman game from Rocksteady, contributing to some of the annoyance. Fans adore the developer’s single-player Arkham series, with Batman: Arkham City (2011) being regarded as one of the best superhero video games ever made. In contrast, Batman is a villain in the live-service third-person shooter Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Warner Bros. acknowledged shortly after the game’s February 2024 release that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League’s failure was a factor in the $200 million decline in income.

Warner Bros. assured Gamexta in June that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League would continue to be supported for the first year, but they would not say what would happen beyond that. That first year, which also saw the introduction of DLC characters Joker, Mrs. Freeze, and Lawless, culminates in Deathstroke and Season 4. For Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, is this it? Warner Bros. has been contacted by Gamexta for comment.

According to a Bloomberg story earlier this year, Rocksteady staff members were working on a director’s cut of the wildly popular Hogwarts Legacy, and the company’s leadership suggested a return to single-player after its live service blunder. Was Batman on that pitch? After a run of failures, Warner Bros. announced in November that it would increase its efforts in Hogwarts Legacy, Mortal Kombat, Game of Thrones, and DC, “especially Batman.”
