Max Payne Remakes in Full Production at Remedy, Control 2 at the “Production Readiness Stage”

Remedy Entertainment, the company behind Alan Wake’s Control 2, has put the game in the “production preparation stage.” Meanwhile, Max Payne 1 & 2’s remake and the Control multiplayer spin-off are currently in full production.

In its most recent quarterly earnings report, Remedy disclosed the development, stating that Control 2 had “passed the proof of concept stage and has moved to the production-ready stage.”

Max Payne 1 & 2 has now entered full production 10 months after it achieved the same “production ready level,” albeit no additional timeframe was disclosed. According to this, Control 2 will start full production in June 2025.

Max Payne, Parts 1 and 2 Remedy is now actively working on it after reaching this point, however, no release date was disclosed. Naturally, the game will come in a bundle with the first two action games from 2001 and 2003 redone.

Condor has already reached full production. Remedy halted another enigmatic project code-named Kestrel in May 2024, leaving only one multiplayer game under development. For feature validation and feedback, Remedy stated, “The development team has worked on several maps and mission types, and we have coordinated a growing amount of internal and limited external playtesting.”

These games are probably still years away from release because they have only recently begun full production (Control 2 is not even there yet). The cancellation of Kestrel might hasten development, though, since Remedy announced at the time that developers would be reassigned from this project to its other three titles.

Remedy has confirmed that the game is currently in full production, meaning that things are moving along a bit more quickly for the Max Payne 1+2 remake: “The development team has been working towards developing the game to an early functional state from beginning to end while focusing on key differentiating gameplay features.”

Remedy has provided an update on its multiplayer Control spin-off project, Codename Condor while canceling its free-to-play co-op multiplayer project, Codename Vanguard, which was later renamed to Codename Kestral. Condor, like Max Payne 1+2, is now in full production.
