The creator of Marvel Rivals, NetEase, has apologized to angry players who were wrongfully banned for cheating.

NetEase said in a Discord post that it had unintentionally labeled certain players who were participating in compatibility layer programs as cheaters, although they were not using cheating tools. Unfortunately, NetEase does not specify the number of bogus bans that came from this.

“We want to reassure you that we do not and will not ban gamers that are playing legitimately and without cheating,” NetEase stated, expressing their genuine regret for the incident.

A list of the impacted gamers has been created, and their bans have been lifted, according to the developer. The statement read, “We have compiled a list of affected gamers and established the particular causes for these incorrect bans.” “These bans have been revoked, and we sincerely apologize for any trouble this has caused.”

NetEase continued by stating that it is making investments to enhance its anti-cheat software and urging gamers to report cheats they come across. Here is the complete rest of the statement:

The announcement coincides with the release of Marvel Rivals Season 1 and the Fantastic Four playable characters, which were hinted at in a first-look photo and will get their trailer the following week.
With 10 million players in three days and 20 million in two weeks, Marvel Rivals is a huge success for NetEase. While Sony and Microsoft do not disclose player figures, Steam provides Valve statistics for the free-to-play superhero team-based PvP shooter, which was released on December 6 for PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S.

Marvel Rivals had a peak of 480,990 concurrent players on Steam during its first weekend of release, placing it among the top five most-played games on Valve’s platform. It ranks 20th in terms of concurrent players on Steam, surpassing titles like Destiny 2, Grand Theft Auto 5, and Helldivers 2.

Season 0 of Marvel Rivals debuted, and the in-game battle pass countdown meter indicates that Season 1 will premiere on January 9. See what we think by reading Gamexta’s review of Marvel Rivals.
