The famous looter shooter First Descendant has received a major upgrade, and the developer, Nexon, has shared some of the reasoning that went into making the game.

Patch 1.0.2, which is currently available for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, adds the hard mode Infiltration Operations matchmaking that was promised, renames creature patterns, marginally lessens the painful grind, and addresses several bugs. Among the other highlights is the slowing down of the Instructor robot’s speech (which was too quick to follow).

Nexon stated in the patch notes that it does not want to weaken the meta builds that players are presently employing to quickly dispatch Colossi, the game’s monsters, in a matter of seconds. According to Nexon, these kinds of builds—which center on the rare machine gun Tamer and the character Gley—were to be expected.

Nexon stated, “We have seen that the community is concerned about potential nerfs to Tamer and Gley’s limitless magazine builds.” “There are no imminent plans to do so, but this meta is quite strong and falls within the scope of what the development team has planned.

Please take full advantage of them as some weapons are stronger than Tamer and there are numerous character builds that can challenge Gley’s limitless magazine. We are thrilled to see Descendants using innovative builds to quickly defeat strong Colossi, as this is something we have been anticipating.

  • Named Monsters’ sequential type Immunity Spheres were removed. They are now either the extermination types or the default ones.
  • Three times as many rare basic minerals were dropped from Encrypted Vaults. They will now also be dropped by the Elite Vulgus that show up in Field Missions and Infiltration Operations.
  • Shortened the duration of the Kingston “Vulgus Data Transmitter” hacking mission from two 90-second occupations to two 60-second professions.
  • Redesigned the Battle Pass Battle Supply Shop button to resemble the Bonus Shop banner, which increased visibility.
  • Fixed a bug where the Acquisition Information pop-up caused the Library window to shut when the map was accessed and closed.
  • Extended the length of party invitation messages to facilitate confirmation and acceptance.
  • Extended the lines of the Descendant Instructor.
  • Closer proximity to the guiding NPC encountered while first arriving in Albion.
