With Monster Hunter Wilds, released in 2025, Capcom will finally do away with gendered armor from the Monster Hunter series, allowing any character to wear any gear.
After more than 20 games and 20 years, game director Yuya Tokuda finally announced the highly anticipated feature during a Monster Hunter Wilds presentation.
Through a translator, Tokuda stated, “I am delighted to report that in Monster Hunter Wilds there is no more male and female armor. In prior Monster Hunter games, you had.” “Any gear can be worn by any character.”
On the Monster Hunter Reddit website, a post titled “We Defeated Gender” presently has 10,000 upvotes, demonstrating how excited fans are about the move. One user said, “Finally get to play a female lancer with the biggest chunk armor known to man.”
The next mainline entry, Monster Hunters Wilds, was revealed in December 2023; however, Capcom has not yet provided a firm release date.
“Shaping up to be very much what [we] wanted for A Monster Hunter that embraces the bits of Rise that made it so much more accessible, but also does not shy away from the broader scale and spectacle that helped make World the more enduring entry,” Gamexta wrote in our most recent preview of the game.
