Fans Are Disappointed When Helldivers 2 Dev Posts New Game Plan Following Update

The latest Escalation of Freedom update for Helldivers 2 left players unhappy, and the game’s developer, Arrowhead Studios, says it wants to make things right.

In a message posted on its Reddit page, the studio addressed the issue and outlined a 60-day plan to win back player confidence and lost territory. In this statement, Arrowhead concedes to player annoyance while pledging to concentrate on “action. Not talk” regarding Helldivers 2’s future.

Game designer Mikael Eriksson stated, “We have spent the last week listening to feedback, contemplating the way ahead for Helldivers 2 and how we want to continue creating the game.” In summary, the most recent update fell short of our goal. There were a few things we just got wrong, as well as some deeper flaws in the way we approached game design and balance. That is all our fault, and we will take responsibility for it.

Fans of Helldivers 2 are upset about the changes and improvements to the gameplay that have been made since the game’s February release. Specifically, a lot of people are angry with the most recent nerfs to weapons, claiming that Arrowhead’s balance adjustments make the game less enjoyable overall and make it less balanced. The community has been split on this topic since some people would rather feel as though they are barely making it out of a mission alive.

The outline states, “We want balance to be enjoyable, not ‘balanced’ for the sake of balance.”

A few long-term bullet items are included in Arrowhead’s broad concept to make sure Helldivers 2 is there for a very long time. This covers the top objective of setting up an opt-in beta test environment and publishing player surveys regularly to facilitate fan-developer contact. This will lead to even more blog entries and comprehensive patch notes.

Eriksson went on, “We also want to thank you for your patience.” “We appreciate all of your helpful criticism and recommendations on the most recent upgrade.”

With 12 million copies sold in 12 weeks on PC and PlayStation 5, Helldivers 2 became the fastest-selling game ever on PlayStation, following its unexpected success at launch earlier this year. Many changes have followed its successes, chief among them the appointment of John Pilestedt as CCO, to concentrate more on the studio’s games and community. Later, when discussing the popularity of Helldivers 2, its new CEO, Shams Jorjani, stated that the team “knew it would be impossible to keep up with demand and the insatiable thirst for more fun shit to do in/with HD2.”

Helldivers 2 has had a great start to the game and is currently going through a slump. “Helldivers 2’s action feels excellent, its missions stay fresh and exciting, and its smart progression system does not nickel and dime you,” we wrote in our 9/10 review, describing it as “wonderful.”
