Capcom Is “Considering” Creating New Mega Man Games “Continually”

Mega Man is still one of Capcom’s “highly valuable IPs,” the company has affirmed, and it is “thinking how to make games for it on an ongoing basis.”

During a Q&A session for its 45th Ordinary General Meeting of Shareholders, Capcom provided an update on the cherished franchise. Although no specific details were disclosed, it is encouraging to know that the company is committed to carrying on its history.

In response to a shareholder’s question about the company’s plans for the Mega Man series, Capcom stated, “We are continuously thinking about how to develop games for one of our highly-valued IPs, Mega Man.”

Since its 1987 NES debut, Mega Man has been distributed in over 50 countries and, as of October 2023, has sold over 41 million copies. 2018 saw the release of Mega Man 11, the final mainline title, on the PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC.

“It is hardly innovative, but Mega Man 11 feels almost like a classic Mega Man game and is a nice basis for the next 10 titles,” we wrote in our review of Mega Man 11.

Since then, more Mega Man collections have been released, such as the Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection, but the next major Blue Bomber adventure is still a ways off.
