Activision has stated that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will not be providing campaign early access.
Activision stated in a statement provided to CharlieIntel that the numerous Call of Duty developers are concentrated on the game’s October 25, 2024 release.
For those who pre-ordered any of the most recent Call of Duty titles—including the unpopular Modern Warfare 3 campaign from last year—Activision has made campaign early access available. Early access periods, which allowed players to play through the story and jump straight into multiplayer and zombies, usually started one week before the official debut.
Activision has taken a different approach with Black Ops 6. This is what the statement says:
The group is totally concentrated on October 25. All that the game has to offer—Campaign, Multiplayer, and Zombies—excites us. We decided this year to give the community the opportunity to experience all modes simultaneously, so on October 25th, we will once again have a single, big worldwide launch. As a result, Black Ops 6’s Early Access is not better this year; instead, the countdown to launch is.
It is important to note that Activision may have been influenced by the fact that Black Ops 6 is the first mainline Call of Duty game to be released directly into the Xbox subscription program Game Pass. As part of its $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard last year, Microsoft purchased Call of Duty.
Activision is expected to make an announcement shortly regarding changes for Black Ops 6’s complete launch, which concluded last weekend. A new Body Shield feature, a new Omnimovement function, and several other innovations from Treyarch’s 2020 game Black Ops Cold War are all included in Black Ops 6.
