Sony’s $700 In addition to offering a significant performance improvement for games like God of War: Ragnarok and Baldur’s Gate 3, the PlayStation 5 Pro is also experiencing teething issues. Players have reported problems with games including Silent Hill 2, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.
Eurogamer has noticed several fans pointed out that developer Bloober Team and publisher Konami have not yet responded to graphical issues centered around a shimmering or flickering effect in the recently released remake of the popular survival horror game Silent Hill 2.
Reddit user Unlocky-Soil-2456 stated, “I realized something was amiss right away without even witnessing gameplay earlier or even playing the game before this.” “This is just awful. It is so distracting that I can not play it right now.”
The shimmering issue is also present in some other games. “Most of the games on my PS5 Pro look amazing, but there seems to be a problem with some of them,” Chaystic posted on ResetEra. “There is this strange aliasing, shimmering, or whatever you want to call it. Black Ops 6 is a prime example. I thought my Pro was broken or something, but it turns out that I am not the only one who observed. I have come across other social media posts that made similar claims.
Digital Foundry found what it described as “serious visual quality difficulties” in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, while other PS5 Pro owners in the comments also noted it in Spider-Man 2, Stellar Blade, and Alan Wake 2. It stated that “when components like foliage interact with ray tracing, there are severe image quality difficulties.” “It is tough to suggest this Pro patch because of the resulting strobing image quality reduction.”
On November 7, Sony’s now-standard mid-generation upgrade, the PS5 Pro, was released. At launch, PS5 Pro-specific patches were available for over 50 games; however, since Black Ops 6 and Alan Wake 2 are among the games on this list that have received complaints, it is advisable to approach with caution.
“The PlayStation 5 Pro is an outstanding console with substantial gains in performance and visuals for titles that take advantage of its powerful hardware,” Gamexta stated in its 7/10 review of the PS5 Pro. However, you will have to reconsider whether the $700 improvement is worth the cost.
