The Helldivers 2 Community is once again pushed to open rebellion by fire damage nerfs.
The community is reacting negatively to Arrowhead Game Studios, the developer of Helldivers 2, for nerfing fire damage weapons just days before the release of Freedom’s Flame, a premium war bond with a pyromaniac theme. This week’s Escalation of Freedom update brought balance modifications, including several adjustments to the fire damage mechanism of the game to make flame-spewing weaponry act “more realistically.” Social media has been used by some irate community members to voice their displeasure about the update’s drastic nerfing of fire-based weapons like the flamethrower, which was before seen to be a powerful countermeasure against armored determined charges.…
The co-founder of Arkane believes that his upcoming game will make his dishonored and prey fans “happy.”
The president of WolfEye Studios and co-founder of Arkane Studios, Raphaël Colantonio, has stated that fans of Prey and Dishonored “will be satisfied” with the upcoming game from his new studio. After co-creating Dishonored and directing Prey, Colantonio left Arkane in 2017. He teased the upcoming game from WolfEye Studios on X/Twitter, stating that “fans of the past first-person games I was associated with (Dishonored and Prey) will be satisfied” with it. In a few days, he said, “We will share a bit more about our upcoming game.” Colantonio left Arkane Austin in 2019, and he later founded WolfEye Studios.…
Helldivers 2 continues to amaze. Despite a significant decline in its player base, the community is still running strong, with an average of about 40K divers diving at any given time. Because players were still taking their time to unlock every item in the previous Warbonds, the game’s developer, Arrowhead Studios, was forced to reduce the pace at which they released new content. Helldivers 2 has committed to maintaining player engagement, which appears to be working so far. It is time for their major initial expansion now. Level 10 difficulty, a new kind of swamp environment, new adversaries from the…
Being a fan of independent games in the early 2010s was fantastic, as titles like Super Meat Boy, Bastion, and Limbo set the standard for later titles. The original Volgarr the Viking, a 2D platformer inspired by the ways the genre had changed during the 1990s, is one of my faves from that era. It plays and looks like a 16-bit Sega Genesis game. It was extremely enjoyable to surpass its trials because it was brutally challenging but always fair, with careful balance. I hate to say it, but Volgarr the Viking 2, the 2024 sequel, completely throws that balance…
Gamers of Elden Ring have found a risk-free method for quickly dispatching Rellana, the Twin Moon Knight, one of Shadow of the Erdtree’s primary bosses. The exploit operates by going to the Scadu Altus region and then going to the legacy dungeon Castle Ensis, all without ever entering her arena. Players can destroy Rellana by simply performing long-range spells while standing in touch with the boss chamber’s back fog gate, as discovered by X/Twitter user Ziostorm. “It turns out that you can use Flame of the Fell God, an Incantation that launches a ball of fire, to cheese Rellana by…
Bethesda Trademarks Starborn, Generating Conjecture Regarding Potential Starfield DLC
“Starborn” is a trademark of Bethesda, which is a reference to the recently launched Starfield game. The trademark was filed by Bethesda owner ZeniMax Media Inc., which is itself owned by Microsoft. It was discovered by X/Twitter user @bogorad222. The trademark has already generated rumors regarding its possible connection to either a smaller-scale DLC, possibly centered on the player character, or an expansion-sized DLC that might come after the impending Shattered Space. In the context of Starfield, “Starborn” refers to the entities that become visible once the player character has gathered enough artifacts for Constellation. The entities are revealed to…

The Dark Horizon is the third and last DLC pack for Remnant 2, according to creator Gunfire Games. A release window of September 2024 was also announced, one year after the successful debut of the co-op shooter sequel known as “Dark Souls with firearms.” Gunfire hinted that when players returned to the necropolis world of N’Erud, they would find that an odd phenomenon had taken hold. Given that Gunfire had promised to release all three of the DLCs during Remnant 2’s first year of release, the September 2024 release schedule for The Dark Horizon represents a kind of delay. “To…
Riot has announced that Valorant is now available in open beta for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S. The team-based shooter, which is available for free, gained significant popularity on PC since its initial release in 2020. However, there are a few significant distinctions between this console port and the PC version. Aim-down-sights (ADS) is a secondary, supporting shooting method, and hip-fire is Valorant’s primary shooting mode on PC. Riot developed Focus, a new shooting mode for the console port that works similarly to hip-fire but with less sensitivity. Microsoft said in an Xbox Wire post that…
