The announcement of Elder Scrolls 6 is now as old as Skyrim was at the time of its release.

The announcement of The Elder Scrolls 6 is already as old as that of its predecessor, Skyrim, and developer Bethesda has not released any teaser since.

Six years, seven months, and three days have gone by since the announcement of The Elder Scrolls 6, according to devoted Reddit user RoboPup. The Elder Scrolls 6 was revealed on June 10, 2018, 2,403 days after the release of Skyrim, which was renowned for its November 11, 2011 release date.

A short teaser trailer was released at (the now-defunct) E3 2018. Elder Scrolls fans were ecstatic as the title The Elder Scrolls 6 appeared and the trailer opened on a fantastical setting with familiar drums playing.

As showcase after showcase and year after year has gone by without any new glimpses of the Skyrim sequel, fans have grown disenchanted, expecting this to be a preview of many more trailers and in-depth analyses with a release just a few years away.

Even Todd Howard, the development chief at Bethesda, took a moment to acknowledge the announcement’s sixth anniversary in June of last year, saying, “Oh yeah, that has been a while.” The studio confirmed that The Elder Scrolls 6 had commenced “early development” in August 2023 and that “early builds” were available in March 2024, indicating that the game is at least currently in production.

However, except for some court documents stating that it will forego PlayStation because Microsoft now owns Bethesda, that is essentially all Bethesda has stated.
