A mod that adds hundreds of visual enhancements to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt recently gave the game its biggest graphics boost since the official Next-Gen Update was out in 2022.
“Raises the game’s visuals to the highest degree yet and enhances it to a next-gen masterpiece,” according to HalkHogan, a NexusMods user who posted The Witcher 3 HD Reworked Project: Next Gen Edition. Textures, models, materials, and other elements are all reworked by the mod; the quantity of these modifications “may be counted in the thousands.”
The mod website also stated, “Everything is painstakingly constructed with attention to every detail.” All of this is intended to make the game more accurate in portraying The Witcher’s filthy world while also making it more realistic, consistent, and detailed. You can now embark on the most breathtaking voyage to date.
HalkHogan notes that the mod only has a “small influence” on performance, but anyone can download it on a PC. When they mentioned, “The game should run comparable to prior mod installation,” “The visual card memory demand will be higher if you play on Ultra+ textures.”
With its huge quests, thoughtful story, and fantastical open world, The Witcher 3 made studio CD Projekt Red famous when it came out in 2015. Earlier this year, the developer published REDkit, an official mod editor for the PC version, which users have been using to further expand The Witcher 3
This covers everything from a fully customized character builder that allows players to assume the role of a sorceress to a morality and reputation system that gives Geralt’s actions even more repercussions.
While CD Projekt concentrates on its numerous impending Witcher projects, these mods have given the game a new lease on life. At The Molasses Flood, an entry with greater broad appeal is being planned, and the next core game, dubbed Polaris, will feature a new protagonist. Additionally, Fool’s Theory is using Unreal Engine 5 to create a remake of the original The Witcher.
