Alientrap Games has launched DuneCrawl, an upcoming open-world online co-op privateering adventure where you and your pals explore the sand seas aboard your Dune Crawler, a gigantic walking crab loaded with cannons and treasure maps. It will launch on Steam in the first half of 2025.

“Explore expansive, beautiful, hand-drawn landscapes to uncover the mystery surrounding the Dune Crawlers,” the makers claim. Engage in quest-granting interactions with NPCs, protect the nearby villages from bandits, unearth hidden treasure, mount armored scarabs, and uphold your reputation as the best freebooter this side of the seven sands.” View the first screenshots in the gallery below and the announcement trailer above.

DuneCrawl was best described as “a blend of Sea Of Thieves, Lovers In A Dangerous SpaceTime, and a little of Tunic/Zelda” by an Alientrap representative. Up to four players can participate in both local and online cooperative play. AI allies will assist you on board your spacecraft in single-player mode.

Put DuneCrawl on your Steam wishlist if you want to keep track of its development.
